Hit the farmers market in Hastings before we shoved off, but
unfortunately, there was slim pickins and I came away empty handed.
Beautiful trip up to Peterborough. The first few hours were spent getting to and
crossing Rice Lake before we banged a right and entered Otonabee River. This waterway is absolutely beautiful. It meanders along lush vegetation dotted by
small cottage communities. We took our
time, averaging about six knots so we could slow down whenever we saw a docked
boat or fishermen so we wouldn’t swamp them with our wake. This gave us a chance to take in the beauty
of this portion of the Trent-Severn.

Lunch on board while underway was a bit different than our
normal mid day fare. It wasn’t until
about noon time that I realized we were out of sandwich fixins and the only
thing in the fridge that wasn’t frozen was some chicken breast and fresh zucchini. No problem, Tim fired up the grill for the
chicken and zucchini and I put some rice on the stove and voila, a delicious
lunch was enjoyed by all while at the helm.
We arrived in Peterborough about 4:00 after going through
just one lock today.

We are staying at the Peterborough Marina (fabulous place and staff!) for the next three nights. We were invited to join Hour Plan and Fins for dinner who are also here for the weekend, but we took a pass and enjoyed a light meal at the restaurant above the marina overlooking the boats, including ours.
