July 12 / Day 52 / Bobcaygen to Sunset Cove Marina / 32.8 NM

Off the dock at 8. Two interesting navigational points of interest today.  One is the Kirkfield lock which is another lift lock (much like the Peterborough lock where they add or subtract water to raise or lower the counter acting lock basins).  At this one we entered at the top, so imagine driving your car to the edge of a cliff and look down 5 stories (but you are in a boat - floating - yeah).

Photo taken from the starboard side of Observer looking down at a houseboat locking up at the same time we were locking down.  Those are 3 people standing on the roof of the houseboat.

The other was where the Trent Canal had some of the narrowest stretches of the trip.  Again, imagine going down a side street in your neighborhood where only one car can travel at a time, make it six miles long, flood it with six feet of water and put yourself on it in a boat.  We did encounter a couple boats coming at us from the opposite direction, but the timing was such that we passed along some of the wider portions.

We spent the night @ Sunset Cove Marina and had heavy showers most of the night.
