July 13 / Day 53 / Sunset Cove Marina to Orillia / 21.1 NM

It was raining at our departure time so we delayed shove off for 45 minutes or so. We had four locks, two swing bridges and a trek across Lake Simcoe.  Lake Simcoe is notorious for bad weather that kicks up without much warning.  By the time we arrived there, conditions were favorable. We had about a 10 knot breeze from the East giving us a bit of a push.  After passing through The Narrows (should be renamed The Very Narrows - skinnier water than yesterday!) we arrived at Port of Orillia Marina in Orillia just in time for their Scottish festival.

The highlight of the day was running into friends Betsy and Steve on "Heaven' to Betsy." We met Betsy and Steve at the AGLCA Spring Rendezvous in New Bern this past April. They started the Loop a week after us from Norfolk, VA.  They were behind us for the first month and then passed Observer when we went home for the week. It just so happened that when we were coming home from dinner, they were walking off the dock and we ran right into them.  We were psyched to finally catch up and see them again.

Betsy!
