April 5 / Day 319 / Thunderbolt to Beaufort, SC / 46.5 NM

Thursday 4/05 up and off the dock this morning at 7:40.  It's 49 degrees & sunny.  We pushed our way North on the ICW, passing interesting sights and beautiful homes.
I guess that is one way to move your belongings.

We  arrived in beautiful Beaufort, S.C. about 1:30.
Approaching the Beaufort City Marina

Snug in our slip for the night.
There are several Loopers here including Herb, the infamous harbor host of Tarpon Springs, FL who is on his second time around the Loop solo. . .on a 53 footer!.  We got the bikes out and did a fantastic tour of the historic district of Beaufort.  Wow - we saw some wonderful homes, churches and trees. Every once in a while we'd see one for sale and look up the specs on Realtor.com.  We could live here. . .but we won't, at least not yet!

Loved the barn doors on this garage

The yellow sign on this tree says Clearance 10'

Beautiful canopied streets

We met Ken of the sailboat Tempest in Jekyll Island a few days back.  He told us about a wonderful restaurant he enjoys here in Beaufort and invited us to join him and his wife Marie for dinner there tonight.  Ken got us a reservation at The Old Bull Tavern (#1 out of 163 on Trip Advisor) despite there being no reservations available.  It was a great venue which included walking through a telephone booth to enter the back room.  We had a whole room to ourselves.  We were attentively served delicious dinners of Lamb shank and soft shell crab and then the chef / owner Oscar came by to catch up with Marie and Ken and introduce himself to us.  We had a great time sharing our seafaring adventures with Ken & Marie.  It was a perfect evening in a fabulous town.  We'll be back.
