April 19 - 27 / Day 333 - 341 / Coinjock to Chesapeake, VA / 37 NM

Thursday 4/19   We are headed to Atlantic Yacht Basin where we will leave OBSERVER and get some maintenance work done while we travel home for a week.  It was a 5 hour run over here and we are settled into a pretty secure spot until we get hauled for our work list.  It will be great to get home for a bit with different people, surroundings and responsibilities and get charged up for our last month of the Great Loop as we close on on our home waters.  We will suspend the blog til we return.

The outer face dock.  We are tucked around back in the large basin.

The view from our slip for the week

We had reserved a Nissan Sentra or something comparable through Enterprise.  When we arrived, all they had available was a Chevy Silverado dual cab.  No problem, a major upgrade at the same price as the much smaller Nissan.

The drive home was long (13 hours),  though otherwise uneventful.  Henry and a few of his friend's were there to greet us before they all headed out for the night.  Millie was especially happy to be back.  It has been almost a year since she last slept on a couch, let alone her own bed.  We both were curious as to what she may have been thinking when we pulled into the driveway.

The week was spent running errands, going to doctor and dentist appointments, hair appointments,  and catching up with family and friends.  It was a lovely week with Spring like temperatures which gave Tim and Hen a chance to get the kayaks out on the river.

Soon, it was time to return to Observer at Atlantic Yacht Basin,.  Our friends Pam and Ed live in NJ and we asked if we could break up our trip back by stopping at their place for the night - no problem.  We got a tour of their new home, caught up and had a great home cooked meal and a great night's sleep - thanks Pam & Ed.

Millie found just about every rawhide bone hidden at Pam and Ed's by their two dogs, Herbie and Louis.

At one point, we couldn't find Millie.  She had somehow figured out which was our room for the night and was making herself right at home

Check out the license plate on this Hummer!

We left Pam and Ed's at 7:00 am and arrived at the marina about 2:00; Millie wasn't thrilled. . . She is a trooper nonetheless.  Our plan was to turn on our refrigerator, unload our car, do a provision run and then return the rental car - got that done. We received a call earlier in the week that the marina was set back by weather and only could take care of 1 (gel coat repair) of our 4 work items.  They did a great job with the gel coat repair and we will leave it at that.
