April 3 / Day 317 / Two Way Fish Camp to Kilkenny Creek / 45.5 NM

Tuesday 4/03  Up and off the dock at 8:00.  It was an easy ride to our destination today, Kilkenny Creek Marina in Richmond Hill, Georgia. We passed some pretty scenery and a few houses on a spit of land dividing the ICW from a small creek.

Notice the welcome wagon on the mid left side of this photo

Another pretty house with water out the front and right out the back
Kilkenny Creek Marina has a reputation of being one of the more "quaint" stops in rural outback Georgia or so we were led to believe.  If we described last night's stay at Two Way Fish Camp as being rustic, this place is best described as rickety;  even the docks sway side to side when you walk on them.  The cleats on the docks that you secure your boat lines to are 2 x 4s hammered perpendicular to the dock.  There was a line attached to an underwater post by Observer that must have been there for a million years.  It had so much growth on it that I thought it was a rather large tree limb lodged under the dock.  They don't answer the radio and they are a bit quick on the phone ("port side tie, fenders down low" was the extent of our slip instruction) but Robert was standing next to our slip for the night and helped us get secure.  Alex and Andre of Allison Leigh (Platinum Loopers) pulled up behind us and it was great trading stories and mostly getting lots of good advice from them.

They are not quite sure what time they close each day.

Allison Leigh tied up behind us for the night

Pretty view

We took a little walk around and saw some great homes and trees.  The marina owns a vacant historic home (pre- civil war) right next to its office.  It's not occupied and need a great deal of work.  We took a walk around peaked through the windows.
Old plantation house next door to the marina
Hand made windmill
These live oak trees are purported to be 300 - 400 years old

There was some nice color on the marsh as the sun was setting.  The restaurant next door is not open on Tuesday's so Chef Alice prepared a hearty spaghetti dinner for the crew - yum
