March 28 - 30 / Day 311 - 313 / St. Augustine to Jacksonville

Wednesday 3/28   We were off the dock @ 8:30.  It's overcast and 58 degrees; winds are light out of SE but build to 14 mph by afternoon.  We traveled the ICW north and then the St. John's River South to Ortega landing Marina on the Ortega River in Jacksonville.  We did not arrive til 4:50 and then we moved to another slip that had better access for Millie.  We were pretty spent at that point.  Got the boat settled and pulled some left overs out of the refrigerator for dinner.

Thursday 3/29    This is a beautiful marina in a wonderful location.  They have a really nice boaters lounge, pool & hot tub, FREE ICE AND FREE LAUNDRY.

Tim saw divers headed down the dock to clean the bottom of another boat on our dock and asked if they could squeeze us in and an hour later they were cleaning the bottom of OBSERVER and replacing a couple of zincs for us.  Did a tour of their neighborhood across the bridge on the bike.  It was really stunning with beautiful homes of all sizes and mature trees throughout.  We got a tour of American Tug 435 that was in our marina - nice to get a good luck around the bigger version of OBSERVER. Our crew took a tour up river to check out the other marinas and boats in the area.  The most notable is Huckins Marine - they build classic style motor yachts and they had several beauties staying in their marina.

We BBQ'd up some dinner on one of the marina grills and enjoyed a close to full moon from our boat slip.

Moon rising aver the marina

Friday 3/30   Did a West Marine run, then a Publix run, then it rained.  We spent some time stratergizing where we plan to stop and for how long over the next week or so as we move North.

Millie completely relaxed in the pilot house
