Thursday 3/15 Off the dock at 9:30. We need to immediately
request an opening of the Old Roosevelt Bridge but the railroad bridge next to it was down so we
needed to wait 15 minutes or so for our
opening. It took about an hour to weave
our way back to the ICW where we made our way North. This section of the ICW is very wide like a
bay. After our first bridge today the
rest were all higher than our air draft.
We arrived at Fort Pierce City Marina about 1:15. We had read that there can be a strong side
current approaching the marina through its channel- got through that. We settled into our slip and had a look
around. This marina is enormous and
there is a park that abuts the marina so lots of restaurants and people
enjoying the day here. We found a great restaurant just a short walk from the
marina called 121 Tapas on the Water. We
sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious, light meal served by a very attentive
bar tender.
Turning off the ICW towards Fort Pierce, Notice the man made breakwaters intended to curb the current. |

Lots going on here |
This was a statue in the marina. I got a kick out of the pigeon getting a drink of water from the top dolphin's mouth. |

The water is back to a beautiful color. This photo was taken from atop a bridge looking straight down. |

Friday 3/16 It's a
lay day for us. Got in a nice bike ride. Loopers Tim & Patti of CRAIC (pronounced crack) gave us a ride to
Publix so we could do some provisioning - that was a huge help. Later we joined a large docktails (6-7 Looper
boats) hosted by Dana & Dennis of Pharm life (most recent Gold
Loopers).
