October 30 / Day 162 / Aqua Yacht Harbor to Bay Springs Marina / 36.5 NM

 

We scheduled a mechanic to our boat this morning for some preventative maintenance - oil change and fuel filter changes and overall look at things.  The mechanic showed up at 9, did a great job, let Tim watch and help and after we paid a very fair bill, we were off the dock at 11:00 am.  We had a leisurely run down to Bay Springs Marina - nice spot that is very close to the Whitten lock - our first lock tomorrow.  The marina was all decked out for Halloween.  It made us think of home!

Tim got the bike out and did a little poking around the neighborhood.  Went down one dirt road, saw a couple run down cabins, near the dogs barking, "was that a banjo?" and promptly TURNED AROUND.  We met with Golden pre - dinner to discuss tomorrow's itinerary.  The plan is to get up early, call the lockmaster at 6:30 and see if we can get a lock through. Dinner (leftovers cooked in a gourmet way), but no tv reception because we are in a covered slip and hit the hay early.
