November 5 / Day 168 / Demopolis to Bobby's Fish Camp / 84.5 NM

Off the dock at 5:45 and everything with the lock went according to plan.  Golden rafted up with us at the lock and Millie and Callie were able say hello to each other this morning and get caught up on the dog Looper happenings.

The line of the day goes as follows:  "What's that floating behind Ramble? It's a log. . .but it has skin on it?"  Ramble On reported that it was a dead deer floating.  Don't want to get that caught in the thrusters or prop.  As soon as we exited the lock on the lower side, we hit a wall of fog.  Everyone was glued to their chart plotters, AIS, radar and looking left to right for any signs of the shorelines.  After a couple hours the fog cleared and we had a beautiful day.

Hard to see, but that is a Bald Eagle in the center of the photo

At the start of today we finished up the Tenn-Tom Waterway.  We are now in the Black Warrior - Tombigbee Waterway.  We've seen a few alligators today - one we will characterize as huge.

Massive alligator sunning him / herself on shore

Below is a screen shot of the' serpentine shape of this river - lots of twists and turns.

Our destination today Bobbys Fish Camp.

Restaurant

It is a small dock with a restaurant open only on the weekends.  It is an iconic Looper stop so we are hoping to make it to take in this experience.  We arrived about at 4:15.  We ended up rafting so we were the 4th boat from the dock.

Overnight, there were 12 boats total, three tied to the dock and four rafted deep

We lowered the dinghy put Millie and Tim in it and Tim just pushed the dinghy from boat to boat til they hit the main dock.  Bobby's closes at 6 so we gathered for our catfish dinner and it was great.  Here are some photos of the classic decor.

Our neighbor boat had left his gas generator running and we had a couple windows open and when we got back to the boat our carbon monoxide detector was going off.  Millie was acting very strange, butonce we got her off the boat and offered her  a "Scooby Snack" she perked up and lost all symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure.
