September 1 / Day 103 / Joliet to Ottawa / 40.4 NM

We had heard (and probably made sense) to coordinate leaving as one group to the next lock.  Of the five boats that were on the Joliet wall overnight, there was only one other taker to leave early.  I called the lock to ascertain timing and he said to come on down now.  We were there in 15 minutes and 1 1/2 hour later we were invited into the lock!  Lock 2 of the day we rolled right in with no wait. Lock 3 - after a little drama of getting caught behind a tow as the other PCs (pleasure craft is what we are to the tows and lockmasters) were about to lock down without us, we made it and locked down.  We settled in for the night at Heritage Harbor Marina, a little bit of civilization in the middle of nowhere - yay
