Leaving Faro Blanco (photo courtesy of AC Stebel) |
Thurs. 1/11 Off the dock at 9:30. Jim and AC got some
great photos of us leaving Faro Blanca.
We crossed under the Seven Mile Bridge and are now on the East Coast. We had a 45 mile run south down to Key
West. It was a beautiful sunny day but
the seas rocked us a bit as we made our way south. We arrived at Galleon Marina about 3:00 where we will be for a month. We took a
little walk around. Our buddies Reenie
and Greg from Thistle are here in the marina.

We all went out to Vahevala (on a mooring in the harbor) for docktails. We had not really exercised full preparedness for this boat ride. We had forgotten a light, but did borrow one from Vahevala upon leaving the boat. We were pulled over by the Coast Guard and escorted back to our marina for not having the proper light and then they did a full 'report of boarding' paperwork. They were very cool and displayed a helpful rather than punishing tone.

We joined Greg and Reenie for dinner at La Trattoria on Duval Street for a nice Italian meal, then capped off the night at Smoken Tuna to check out a band that Linda from Vahevala recommended. We packed a lot in today - wow.

Ended the night at the Smokin' Tuna - great band! |
Again, since we are planted in Key West for awhile, we will not be doing daily blog posts, but will probably do a recap at the end, much like we did while in Fort Myers. Enjoy the month and you will hear from us again soon!
