August 4 & 5 / Day 75 - 76 / St. Ignace

These were lay days  for the crew of Observer.  We were invited for a drink on Friday by our dock neighbors Sabine & Ed aboard Darak.

They are French and shipped their boat from Italy to Ft. Lauderdale to start their Loop.  We returned the invitation and they joined us on Observer for cocktails on Saturday.  We really enjoyed getting to know them while in St. Ignace.

We got a ton of boat chores done during the lay days,

did a bunch of laundry on board

Observer's washer / dryer combo.  Takes forever to cycle through, but such a convenience over having to go to the laundromat.

as well as reprovisioned at the grocery store.

We call this our "rolly".  It is actually intended to be used behind a bike, but works just as well when walking and holds a ton of stuff.

On Saturday, the sun was out but it was windy and poorly suited to head out to Lake Michigan today.  There was a Mini Cooper Rally in town today.

They had 1,300 Minis and it was fun checking out all the models in every variety of colors and graphics.

The day concluded with an awesome band and fireworks just off the marina.
