June 1 / Day 11 / Kingston

                                                The sun is shining!

The Rondout Yacht Basin is a sweet little marina run by two brothers who really take pride in customer service.  The place has good, floating docks, clean showers, two coin operated washers and dryers (a bonus when you have more than one load to do), a pool, a playground and a small café open on the weekends.  It is located up the Rondout, a side creek off the Hudson, about a mile walk uphill to the town of Kingston, but easily reachable by dinghy just across the way.

Tim finally had a chance to use the paddleboard we brought with us,

After lunch, Tom, Carol, Tim, Millie and I, jumped in our dinghy and headed over to Kingston for the afternoon.  Dinghy tie up was at the Kingston City dock and cost $10, whether it be for an hour or a day.  Upon our arrival, Carol and Tom went left and we went right, planning to meet up later for drinks and a bite to eat.

Kingston is a beautiful little town with friendly people and some cute shops and restaurants.  Tim and I started at the Visitor’s Center, took a walk looking in some shops, went to the Maritime Museum and ended up at a waterfront restaurant watching a high school crew race with Millie tucked under the table.  We called Carol and Tom who came down to meet us and we had a delightful time, the sun was shining, the drinks and appetizers were good and the race was entertaining.

Overall, very dog friendly except for this one spot.
